This was our first contest in a long time. We would like to thank everyone who participated. Special thanks to the contest department as well.

Short Story:  

 THE GUIDELINES:

As the name implies anyone wishing to enter the contest would be required to enter a short story that is:

• No shorter than 500 words
• No longer than 1000 words

Also, the stories can be any one of the following:

• "Scary" story/ghost story
• Halloween story
• General wizarding story of interest
  
   

THE WINNER IS:

 The Spirit of Desdemona.

Fifty years ago a little girl was born with jet black hair and bronze colored skin. Her name was Desdemona. But Desdemona was not your normal Muggle child though she was born from a Muggle family that had no trace of witch blood; she was born a full witch. Sadly when she was two years of age both her mother and father died mysteriously.

After the death of her parents Desdemona lived alone in a dark and run down shack until she was adopted by two evil witches at the tender age of 13, they raised her as their own and instructed her in the dark arts. Every day the witches would take her into the forest and teach her curses, and charms. One Sunday afternoon the two witches were killed but like her parents no one knew how they had died.

To Desdemona it seemed as if everyone she loved had died and she believed that her being a witch was the cause. Desdemona who was now only sixteen was over taken with sorrow grabbed her wand and killed herself.

Five years later it was discovered that Desdemona killed no one and that three dark witches were discovered to be behind the killing spree.

Legend has come about that the angry spirit of Desdemona seeks her revenge by haunting the woods near her once earthly home to kill young witches and wizards. It is told she sucks their blood to remove their powers in hopes of finding the three whose acts caused her so much pain and sorrow.

Young and foolish ones tempt fate in hopes to see Desdemona by going into a forest at night time to close their eyes and whisper “Dessy come to me” 5 times.

Stories abound from Witch and Muggle alike that they had seen her to appear. They say her hair was grey and black, her eyes red, and her skin pale brown.
They say before she kills you she grabs you by the arms digs her nails into your skin, looks you in the eyes, slowly kisses you on both side of your cheeks, than whispers “Witches are nothing but Evil. They are the reason people are dying. They took my family away from me. Now I will take you away from your family.”

If you do happen to run into Dessy it is said if you can make her cry then her soul will be at peace and she will let you go. To date no one has been able to make this heartless being cry and set her soul to rest, maybe because no one has felt her pain. People claim they have made her cry but after saying that slowly one by one people from their family die. Then once the whole family is dead Desdemona appears in the person’s sleep whispers “You lie” then kills them.

The only way too stay safe from this witch’s ghost is if you were a witch born from a pure Muggle family, or if you are a Muggle. Heed my warning now and know that you can not say I did not tell you so.
Pass this on the all will know. If you do not then more people you know start dying you will only have yourself to blame.
